From Baykar's social media accounts “"A warrior like Akıncı has passed from this world."” The documentary, shared with the note, portrays Özdemir Bayraktar not only through his technical projects but also through his human side, patriotism, and unwavering faith.
Moving beyond the cold world of machines and projects, the documentary portrays a man of cause who spent his nights in factories and his days on the field with soldiers, living with the dream of a "Fully Independent Türkiye" until his last breath. Baykar’s statement regarding the release included the following powerful expressions:
"This narrative... reveals not only what Özdemir Bayraktar accomplished but also why he never quit and with what spirit he fought to achieve this outcome. In truth, this is the story of a nation’s determination to stand on its own feet."
Why Akıncı?
The term "Akıncı" (Raider) used in the documentary's title is a dual reference. It alludes to the high-tech UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) developed by Baykar, in whose design Özdemir Bayraktar was personally involved, and serves as a metaphor defining his character. Much like the historical Akıncılar—fearless frontier units in Turkish history—Özdemir Bayraktar was a pioneer who expanded the boundaries of the Turkish defense industry and was the first to venture into unexplored territories.
