The Ministry of National Defence announced that acceptance tests for the serial production of the Aselpod National Targeting and Marking Pod are continuing by the 401st Test Squadron.
What is ASELPOD?
ASELPOD is a new generation, multi-sensor targeting pod designed for fighter aircraft. ASELPOD incorporates the following units and capabilities, each with advanced features:
- High-resolution, 3rd generation thermal camera (FLIR)
- Laser Rangefinder / Target Designator
- Laser Spot Tracking Unit
- Laser Lighting Unit
- Thanks to advanced automated video target tracking, multiple targets can be tracked.
- Simultaneous monitoring of videos from thermal and daytime cameras.
- Ability to record thermal/daytime video.
- Advanced Image Processing Algorithms
- Ability to calculate precise geographic location information of the target.
- Possibility of expansion for additional future mission requirements.
