The construction of Turkey's first lithium ion battery production facility to be established by Aspilsan Energy in Kayseri is 80 per cent complete.
In October last year, 80 percent of the construction was completed in Turkey's first lithium ion battery production facility with a closed area of 25 thousand square metres, the foundation of which was laid in Mimarsinan Organised Industrial Zone in October last year and will soon start mass production.
At the same time, the facility, which will mass produce lithium-ion batteries in Europe, will meet the needs of both the defence industry and the private sector, and will continue to develop battery cells of different types, sizes and technologies in the future.
Aspilsan, which carries out studies for domestic production, will become the only cell producing company in the region with the new investment, while it is currently dependent on foreign countries only for cell supply. The factory, which will end foreign dependence in this regard, will ensure completely domestic production when mines such as nickel, cobalt and manganese, which will be used as raw materials, are supplied from the country. The total number of personnel in the production facility is expected to be 300 in 2022 and 400 in 2023.

The factory, which has developed itself with the investments it has made, provides power to almost all kinds of portable devices or wearable technological products sold worldwide with the batteries it produces today.
Aspilsan also designs radios, night vision systems, jamming systems, anti-tank systems, robotic system batteries used in minesweeping and bomb disposal, batteries used in missiles and guidance kits, and anti-torpedo batteries for the Turkish Armed Forces.
