Digital Twin Ready for Altay Tank: Massive Simulation Move Coming from HAVELSAN

HAVELSAN is preparing for the first delivery of the massive package of 94 simulation and training systems developed for the Altay Tank. Here is Altay's digital twin.

ALTAY Tankına Simülatör Geliyor

Before the Turkish Land Forces' most strategic power, the Altay Main Battle Tank (MBT), hits the field, its digital replica is entering the barracks. HAVELSAN, a global brand in simulation technologies, has reached the final stage in the massive training ecosystem developed for the Altay Tank. The company is preparing to make the first delivery of a fleet of 94 simulation and training vehicles that will provide tank crews with a combat environment indistinguishable from reality.

While the metal hull of a tank is produced in the factory, the muscle memory of the crew that will give that tank its soul is built in simulators. Simultaneously with the entry of the Altay Tank, whose serial production is carried out by BMC, into the inventory, the button was pressed for the training of tank crews. HAVELSAN announced with an exciting post on its social media account that the critical delivery in the software and training leg of the Altay project is at the door.

Establishing a Virtual Army of 94 Units

The figures announced by HAVELSAN show that the project is not just a simple training tool, but rather the establishment of a virtual army. The company will deliver not just a single type of simulator for the Altay Tank, but a total of 94 training vehicles consisting of 44 different product items.

This massive package will ensure that every single personnel inside the tank (Commander, Gunner, Driver, Loader) learns their duty down to the finest detail in a virtual environment.

Zero Risk, Full Readiness with Altay’s Digital Twin

Operating a 3rd Generation plus modern tank like the Altay requires great expertise due to high-cost ammunition and complex electronic systems. The simulation systems developed by HAVELSAN create the Digital Twin of the tank, offering the following advantages:

  1. Millions in Savings: It allows personnel to fire thousands of shots without expending real tank ammunition and fuel.
  2. Scenario-Based Training: Scenarios that are impossible to experience in peacetime, such as war under nuclear fallout, driving without night vision, or urban warfare, can be safely practiced.
  3. Fault and Maintenance Training: The life of the tank is extended by introducing maintenance simulators not only for operational but also for technical personnel.

National Power Union from BMC and HAVELSAN

The most striking aspect of the project is the synchronized work of two giants of the Turkish defense industry. While BMC undertakes the physical production (hardware) of the tank, HAVELSAN provides the mental and reflex development (software/training) of the personnel.

HAVELSAN's statement, "We have reached the final stage for the first deliveries," heralds that the moment Altay tanks are shipped to the units, the personnel who will use those tanks will also receive their training sets. This move guarantees that Altay will join the TAF not just as a pile of iron, but as a combat-ready system.
