The indigenous and national missile engine technology, one of Turkey's biggest revolutions in the defence industry, is now transcending national borders and turning into a global success story. Developed by Kale Group and the heart of our national cruise missiles KTJ series turbojet missile engines, After the historic export to Brazil, Kale Group has entered the radar of world giants. Osman Okyay, Deputy Chairman of Kale Group, announced in Izmir that they are conducting new export negotiations with 10-12 countries, and that they will not be limited to missile engines, and that they have developed four new types of engines.
Historical Good News from Kale Group: “We have come from an Engine Importing Country to an Exporting Country!”
Speaking at the IV Investment Summit organised by the Aegean Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (ESİAD) in Izmir, Osman Okyay, Vice Chairman of Kale Group, summarised Turkey's historical transformation in engine technology with the following proud words:
“The fact that we have come from a country importing jet engines to a country exporting jet engines gives us great pride. I can foresee that our exports will grow and increase from now on. We are in talks with 10-12 countries.”
These words declare the victory of Turkish engineering and industry, which did not give up in the face of years of embargoes and difficulties.
The Heart of National Missiles: What is the KTJ Series and Why is it so Critical?
The KTJ series turbojet engines developed by Kale Group form the basis of Turkey's strategic strike power. Without these engines, our missiles would be just a pile of metal.
- KTJ-1750, KTJ-3200 and KTJ-3700 models, which are the apple of Turkey's eye SOM, ATMACA, CAKIR and BLACK ATMACA such as the national cruise missiles.
- Thanks to these engines, our missiles are capable of destroying targets hundreds of kilometres away with high precision.
- Domestic production means that Turkey can produce and use these strategic weapons without asking anyone and without any authorisation.
Not Just Missiles: Kamikaze UAVs and New Generation Engines on the Way
Osman Okyay stated that Kale Group's vision is not limited to missile engines, and that they will take Turkey to the next level in this field with new platforms and new engine types:
“Our goal is to make these engines jet UAVs, Kamikaze UAVs or loitering ammunition We will also transfer it to other platforms,” said Okyay, and gave the biggest good news with the following words: “We do not plan to be limited to the cruising class, we will continue on our way towards higher level engines. On top of 3 types of engines, we are currently developing 4 more types of engines.“
This means that Turkey will soon be able to realise the necessary development not only in turbojets, but also for platforms such as the KAAN. turbofan, we've got a vital equipment for the helicopters. turboshaft and the aeroplanes used for turboprop and will also create its own brand in engines.
We are in the Limited Number Manufacturers League: “They Come to Us When They Need an Engine”
Osman Okyay explained why the export potential of KTJ engines is so high with the following strategic observation:
“In the world, the engine sector is a sector where there are already a few players. For engines in our class, if we bring Europe and the USA together, we are talking about 3-4 players, including us. Therefore, we are one of the points that countries wishing to develop new cruise missiles will turn to when they need engines.”
This situation clearly shows that Turkey has become a “marketing” and game-building actor in the technology market, rather than a “marketed” one.
KAAN's Heart will also be National: “The Highest Point the Mechanical Industry Can Reach”
Touching upon the indigenous engine project developed for the National Fighter Aircraft KAAN, Okyay drew attention to the difficulty and importance of this project: “The 5th generation fighter jet engine is one of the highest points that the mechanical industry can reach in the world. If you are able to do this, you are really in the mechanical industry. Even starting something like this is a great achievement.”
