The rise of electric vehicles in the Turkish automotive market continues unabated. According to February 2026 data, the number of electric cars sold in Türkiye reached 11,842 units, accounting for 16.97% of the total market. At the top of the list is domestic manufacturer Togg, which is redefining market dynamics. The brand secured first place with its T10X model and also claimed second place with its new fastback model, the T10F, closing February with a double victory. Elsewhere in the market, a surprise surge from MINI and a slowdown at Tesla drew attention.
The transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles in the automotive sector continues to manifest itself in the Turkish market with record market shares. With approximately 17 out of every 100 cars sold in February being fully electric, consumer brand preferences also shifted significantly. The announced list of best-selling electric models clearly reveals the strength of domestic production, the offensive of European brands, and the new strategies of Far Eastern manufacturers.
Market Domination from Togg: 1 in Every 4 Electric Vehicles Sold is Domestic
The most striking data on the list was undoubtedly Togg's overwhelming dominance, both by brand and by model. Our representative in the C-SUV segment, the T10X, maintained its top position in February with sales of 1,557 units (13.15% market share).
However, the major success came from the brand's new model, the T10F. The fastback model, drawing attention with its sporty design, quickly made its presence felt on the roads, becoming the runner-up with sales of 1,393 units (11.76% market share). In light of this data, Togg sold a total of 2,950 vehicles in February, single-handedly dominating nearly 25% of the Turkish electric car market.
Surprises in the Top 10: MINI Third, Torres Fourth
The ranking just behind Togg shows just how competitive and volatile the market is:
- Major Breakthrough from MINI Countryman: In third place on the list is the MINI Countryman with 1,253 units sold and a 10.58% market share. This leap by a brand typically appealing to a niche audience with its SUV model went down as one of the biggest surprises of the month.
- KG Mobility (SsangYong) Torres Takes the Stage: The electric SUV model Torres, standing out with its bold design from the South Korean manufacturer, sold 1,013 units, securing fourth place on the list and proving itself as a strong player in the market.
Slowdown at Tesla, Model Distribution at BYD
The February performance of global electric vehicle giants in the Turkish market fell somewhat short of expectations.
The Tesla Model Y moved away from its aggressive sales figures of previous years, managing only fifth place in February with sales of 720 units. This slowdown indicates that new, more affordable SUV alternatives entering the market are increasing competition.
On the Chinese BYD front, which decided on a major investment in Türkiye, sales appear to be distributed across different models. The brand's strongest representative in February was its new model, the Sealion 7, which secured sixth place with 646 units. While the previously popular model Atto 3 (113 units) lagged significantly behind, and models like the Atto 2 (280 units), Seal (158 units), and Dolphin (108 units) increased the brand's total sales, it moved away from the top-tier competition on a model-by-model basis.
The Steady March of Europeans
The remaining models completing the Top 10 list consisted of premium and accessible European models. The BMW X1 maintained its strength in the premium segment, ranking seventh with 609 units. Volvo, known for its safety and minimalist design, managed to place two vehicles in the Top 10 with its EX30 (402 units) and EX40 (319 units) models. The Citroen C3, launched with a vision of accessible electric mobility, found a place for itself in ninth with sales of 325 units.
February data clearly shows that while competition in the Turkish electric car market is rapidly increasing, the domestic brand Togg has no intention of relinquishing its leadership throne with its expanding product range.
