TEMSA, operating under the umbrella of Sabancı Holding – PPF Group, has completed its first electric bus export to Belgium, following its initial export to Sweden.
TEMSA Transportation Vehicles Inc., which came under the umbrella of PPF Group, the main shareholder of Skoda Transportation, through share transfer agreements completed in recent weeks, is crowning its export drive with a new venture in Belgium. TEMSA has delivered the first batch of four vehicles to Opérateur de transport de Wallonie (OTW), the public transportation company of the Wallonia region in southern Belgium.
THE TOTAL NUMBER WILL REACH 40 IN THE FIRST PHASE.
According to the order contract signed between TEMSA and OTW, the second batch of 22 vehicles will be delivered next April. With subsequent orders until the end of 2021, the number of TEMSA branded vehicles on Walloon roads will reach 40.
Wallonia, with a total population of 3.7 million, is also known as a commercial hub in Europe. These vehicles, sold to OTW, the official transport operator of the Wallonia region, will be used in public transport operations in southern Belgium.
FIRST SWEDEN, THEN BELGIUM
Highlighting TEMSA's rapid and significant export drive, CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated, “Recently, we exported six MD9 electriCITY vehicles to Sweden. It was very meaningful for us that TEMSA's first electric vehicle export was to Sweden. We are extremely pleased that our second export destination is Belgium, just a few weeks later. OTW, a state-owned company, operates a public transport fleet of 1,543 vehicles, carrying 159 million passengers annually. The majority of their transportation services are by bus. They also operate tram and metro services in the Charleroi region. It is gratifying to export the vehicles we produce in Adana to the country where the European Union's headquarters are located.”.
A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE BENELUX MARKET.
Doğancıoğlu emphasized that this delivery also serves as a significant reference point for the BENELUX countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), stating: “With our R&D efforts, to which we allocate approximately 5% of our annual turnover, and our wide product range covering all segments, we design the next generation of mobility solutions for tomorrow, and continue our work for a better future with our smart mobility vision that shapes the future. We are in a period where TEMSA will have a greater say in the global market. In this respect, this delivery to Belgium is a great source of happiness and pride for us. We believe that increasing TEMSA's visibility and raising brand awareness, especially in the Belgian market, will create new opportunities for the BENELUX market.’
