President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan tested the “Autonomous Atak Electric,” Europe and America’s first 100% electric and driverless bus ready for real road conditions, developed in collaboration with Karsan and ADASTEC.
The event, held at the Presidential Complex, was attended by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Kıraça Holding Chairman İnan Kıraç, Karsan CEO Okan Baş, ADASTEC Chairman Kamil Güçlü, and ADASTEC CEO Ali Ufuk Peker. During the event, President Erdoğan received comprehensive information about the Karsan Autonomous Atak Electric, which is the first Level 4 driverless and electric bus in its class in Europe and America. Following the event, President Erdoğan and his delegation boarded the autonomous bus, which had an empty driver's seat, and traveled within the Presidential Complex.
KARSAN Autonomous Attack Electric
The Autonomous Atak Electric, the first 8-meter class bus in Europe and America to operate on a real route with Level 4 autonomous capabilities, was developed through research and development on Karsan's 100% electric Atak Electric model. Testing, simulation, and validation studies of the Autonomous Atak Electric were completed in one year, making it ready for mass production. In this project, conducted by Karsan's R&D team, collaboration was established with another Turkish technology company, ADASTEC, to develop the Autonomous Atak Electric. The first mass-produced vehicle from this collaboration, the Autonomous Atak Electric, sold to Romania, will be delivered and begin service in the country at the end of February. Developed through the joint efforts of Karsan and ADASTEC, the Level 4 Autonomous Atak Electric is based on the Atak Electric, which draws its power from 220 kWh batteries developed by BMW, reaching 230 kW of power and producing 2500 Nm of torque. With its 8.3-meter dimensions, passenger capacity of over 52 people, and 300 km range, the Atak Electric Autonomous model has become a leader in its class.
