Türkiye's first armed unmanned naval vessel, the ULAQ family, continues to grow with a new member. ULAQ KAMA, developed by ARES Shipyard and Meteksan Defense, has been introduced as an expendable unmanned naval vessel (XUSV) capable of proactively responding to enemy threats or sacrificing itself.

ULAQ KAMA was first showcased at IDEF 2023 and it was announced that sea trials would begin soon. Like other members of the ULAQ family, ULAQ KAMA can move autonomously or via remote control using its own artificial intelligence. Designed as a low-cost yet highly effective product, ULAQ KAMA aims to increase deterrence at sea and defend the country's maritime borders.

ULAQ KAMA is equipped with radar, laser, acoustic, and communication systems developed by Meteksan Defense. ULAQ KAMA can detect enemy ships and underwater vehicles and can self-detonate if necessary. ULAQ KAMA can also operate in coordination with other ULAQ vehicles and can connect with the command center via network-based communication.

ULAQ KAMA is a significant step towards enhancing Türkiye's naval power. It stands out as a platform capable of being used in both asymmetric and symmetric warfare. ULAQ KAMA is also considered a demonstration of Türkiye's domestic and national production drive in the defense industry. Furthermore, ULAQ KAMA is noteworthy as a product that can be exported to Türkiye's friendly and allied countries. Thus, ULAQ KAMA aims to strengthen Türkiye's presence and effectiveness at sea.
