HÜRJET, the shining star of the Turkish defense industry and our domestically produced jet training aircraft, broke its own record during test flights, reaching a speed of 1.2 Mach (approximately 1482 km/h) and proving its supersonic capabilities once again.
This achievement solidifies HÜRJET's title as the fastest jet aircraft ever produced in Türkiye, while also strengthening its position among its global competitors.
Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), HÜRJET has made significant progress since its first flight on April 25, 2023. Having exceeded the speed of sound (1 Mach) for the first time in October 2024, HÜRJET reached a speed of 1.2 Mach with this latest test, surpassing another critical milestone in supersonic jet training. This speed is of great importance for HÜRJET in terms of both its training capabilities and its potential in light attack missions.
HÜRJET was designed as a high-performance jet training and light attack aircraft with a single engine, tandem cockpit, and modern avionics systems. Some of HÜRJET's notable technical specifications include:
- Maximum Speed: 1.4 Mach (approximately 1728 km/h)
- Service Ceiling: 13,716 m / 45,000 ft
- Range: 2222 km
- Load Capacity: 2721 kg
- G Limits: +8g / -3g
The HÜRJET project was launched in 2017 with the aim of replacing the Turkish Air Force's T-38 Talon jet trainer aircraft and the F-5 aircraft used by the Turkish Stars aerobatic team. Serial production of the HÜRJET is ongoing, with the first deliveries planned for 2026. Furthermore, HÜRJET aims to enter the international market through an agreement with Spain.
HÜRJET's achievement of reaching a speed of 1.2 Mach is a historic success demonstrating the level reached by Turkish engineering and the aviation industry. This development will increase Türkiye's power in the skies and will play a critical role in the training of future generations of pilots.
