A First in the World: Bayraktar TB3 Makes History with First Landing and Take-Off from TCG Anadolu

The Bayraktar TB3 successfully landed on and took off from TCG Anadolu, the world's first armed drone ship!

The Bayraktar TB3 successfully landed on and took off from TCG Anadolu, the world's first UAV carrier, marking a significant milestone in the Turkish defense industry and world aviation history.

This achievement makes the TB3 the first unmanned aerial vehicle in history capable of landing and taking off from a short-runway UAV carrier. Following hundreds of physical tests and thousands of simulations over several months, this success demonstrates the Bayraktar TB3's high-tech and flexible design.

During extensive testing, the TB3 proved its performance in various scenarios under different weather and sea conditions, day and night. This process demonstrated that the vehicles exhibit high performance not only in theory but also in practice. Baykar Defense and Selçuk Bayraktar shared these historic moments on social media, delivering images of the TB3 landing on and taking off from TCG Anadolu to their followers.

The Bayraktar TB3's domestically developed engine, manufactured by TEI, stands out as another success story.

The Bayraktar TB3's engine is the TEI-PD170 turbodiesel aviation engine. Developed by TUSAŞ Engine Industries Inc. (TEI), this engine has a power output of 172 HP (±2) and offers superior altitude capabilities and low fuel consumption compared to its competitors. Equipped with a two-stage series turbocharger system, the TEI-PD170 can operate on JP-8 or Jet-A1 fuels and stands out in its segment with a dry weight of 162 kg. The integration of this engine has enabled the TB3 to meet various operational requirements.

A major force multiplier for the Blue Homeland.

This achievement is of immense strategic importance for Turkey. The TB3's capability not only enhances the operational capabilities of the Turkish Navy but also sets a global precedent for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles on naval platforms. This success strengthens both Türkiye's deterrence at sea and its flexible operational capacity. It can be said that multi-purpose amphibious assault ships like the TCG Anadolu can now undertake more effective missions with UAVs, marking the beginning of a new era for Türkiye's naval forces.
