According to a report in JawaPos, Indonesia is making a significant purchase of UAVs and armed UAVs from Türkiye to strengthen its defense capabilities. A major joint venture agreement (JVA) for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and armed unmanned aerial vehicles (AUAVs) has been signed between Baykar Makina, one of Türkiye's leading defense industry companies, and PT Republik Korpora Indonesia (Republikorp), Indonesia's national private defense holding company.

The agreement entered into force at an official ceremony attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Under the agreement, the defense systems to be manufactured and maintained in Indonesia are listed as follows:

  • 60 sets of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) TB3 Bayraktar-class UAVs
  • 9 sets of High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Akıncı Bayraktar UAVs

This strategic partnership once again demonstrates the global impact of Türkiye's defense industry, while also aiming to make a significant contribution to the development of Indonesia's defense capabilities. Led by Baykar Makina CEO Haluk Bayraktar, this collaboration envisages strengthening Indonesia's defense infrastructure through technology transfer and local training programs.
