Public transport manufacturer Karsan is expanding its presence in right-hand drive markets by launching its electric e-JEST minibus in the UK. This move follows the company's entry into the Japanese market last year with the e-JEST. The launch took place at the EuroBus Expo in Birmingham.
Karsan aims to be a global leader in electric and autonomous public transportation. The company currently operates more than 1,200 electric vehicles in 23 countries. The Karsan e-JEST is the leading model in the company's transition to electric vehicles. It has been Europe's best-selling electric minibus for the past four years. Karsan is also the first company to offer electric minibuses for public transportation in North America.
e-JEST: A Compact and Efficient Solution for Modern Cities
The e-JEST is a 6-metre electric city van with a capacity of 17 passengers, available in a right-hand drive version exclusive to the UK market. The e-JEST is powered by BMW's 135 kW electric motor and has an 88 kWh battery capacity providing a range of up to 210 kilometres. The vehicle can be charged in one hour with fast charging or in four hours with overnight charging..
The e-JEST's compact size makes it a cost-effective solution for operators, reducing operating costs while offering a modern and passenger-friendly solution for cities. Its size also makes it ideal for use in less populated and historic cities where larger vehicles are impractical. The e-JEST can easily navigate narrow streets, and its compact size makes it highly maneuverable.
The e-JEST is equipped with a touchscreen displaying the vehicle's control systems, a fully digital instrument panel, and USB ports. Wi-Fi is also available upon request. The right-hand drive version of the Karsan e-JEST features a four-wheel independent suspension system providing passenger car-like comfort. It also offers active and passive safety driving features, including ESP and Hill Start Assist. Following its success in Europe, North America and Japan, Karsan is confident that e-JEST will be a popular choice for operators in the UK and Ireland.
Karsan is partnering with EVM to expand into the UK market.
Karsan has partnered with EVM, a company with extensive experience in the UK market, to introduce the e-JEST to the UK and Ireland. EVM will be Karsan's business partner in these regions. EVM CEO Danny McGee believes that Karsan's innovative electric minibus is perfectly aligned with EVM's vision of more environmentally friendly and efficient travel solutions. He believes the partnership is poised to empower the future of mobility and transform the public transport experience. Following the UK and Ireland, Karsan plans to expand to Malta and Australia.
