The Turkish defence industry continues unabated in fortifying the strategic striking power of air and land forces with domestic systems. With recent statements from ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci and the company's official accounts, it was announced that the mass production and delivery processes of TAYFUN, Türkiye's first Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM), and the SOM cruise missiles, which offer precision air-to-surface strike capability, are continuing without interruption. The shared production line images prove that the Turkish Armed Forces' (TAF) deep strike and absolute deterrence capabilities have now passed the prototype phase and transformed into a massive inventory strength.
Strategic Power Reflected from Mass Production
The photographs shared by ROKETSAN with the public carry a very clear message for defence analysts. Dozens of SOM cruise missiles arranged in perfect order and massive launch canisters (TAYFUN platforms) with special camouflage demonstrate the maturity in the company's logistical and industrial infrastructure. These images certify that the systems have moved from test ranges directly into the combat order.
TAYFUN Ballistic Missile: A Range that Shifts Regional Balances
TAYFUN, the most critical leap in Türkiye's ballistic missile programme, holds the distinction of being Türkiye's Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM). Thanks to its high speed, the system minimises the reaction time of enemy air defence systems, creating an unstoppable and devastating effect on the target. The acceleration of TAYFUN's mass production transforms the TAF's capability to destroy strategic land targets hundreds of kilometres away within minutes into a standard operational capability.
SOM Cruise Missile: Striking Power that Eludes Radar
The SOM (Stand-Off Missile) family, designed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and produced by ROKETSAN, forms the backbone of the air force's stand-off strike concept. With its low radar cross-section, terrain-following capability, and high navigation autonomy, SOM can paralyse critical facilities without entering enemy airspace. The shared images confirm that this high-tech smart munition is rapidly filling air force munition depots.
The Significance of the Transition from Prototype to Inventory
In the defence industry, a weapon system successfully passing a test firing is a great engineering victory, but the system entering mass production and being distributed to units in large quantities is a true industrial revolution. Türkiye, which in the past was subjected to foreign countries' ammunition supply quotas, covert embargoes, or political conditions, is now operating its own ballistic and cruise missile lines at full capacity. ROKETSAN's emphasis that "deliveries continue as planned" clearly confirms that no bottlenecks due to foreign dependency are being experienced in the supply chain (engine, seeker head, composite body).
A Fully Independent Defence Shield
The uninterrupted delivery of TAYFUN and SOM missiles is the greatest deterrent card Türkiye holds against geopolitical risks in its region. On one side, smart cruise missiles that slip under radars; on the other, ballistic missiles that push the limits of the atmosphere, these systems elevate the Turkish Armed Forces' asymmetric warfare capability beyond global standards. In the coming period, the full integration of SOM variants (SOM-J) with next-generation platforms such as the National Combat Aircraft KAAN, AKINCI, and KIZILELMA will project Türkiye's striking power over a much wider geography.
