TEMSA, which has extended its expertise in electric vehicles from Europe to the USA and Canada, introduced the TS45E, an electric intercity bus model developed specifically for the North American market.
Designed, engineered, and entirely battery-packaged in Adana using local resources, the TS45E, which has shown great success in testing in Silicon Valley for approximately two years, can travel approximately 400 kilometers on a single 4-hour charge.
TEMSA, one of the world's leading manufacturers of electric buses, introduced the first electric version of its TS45 model, which has garnered significant interest in North America, at the 2022 UMA Motorcoach EXPO. The TS45E, the electric version of the TS45 family, which has been on the roads in the USA and Canada since 2014 and is among the most preferred products in the motorcoach segment, has been undergoing test drives for approximately two years in various locations in Silicon Valley and California, leading technology hubs in the world.
Having successfully passed all tests and offering significant cost advantages over its conventional engine competitors, especially on intercity routes, the TS45E will be a pioneer in the transformation of the motorcoach segment with its high driving comfort, maximum passenger safety, advanced technology, and zero emissions.
Speaking at the event, TEMSA CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that TEMSA, with its 54 years of experience, is one of the leading manufacturers in the sector, and that TEMSA branded vehicles, which have been on the roads in 66 countries around the world to date, have traveled 6 billion miles, which is equivalent to circling the globe 240,000 times.
Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that the TS45E is TEMSA's fourth electric vehicle in its global product range, adding, ’As a company that has placed smart mobility solutions at the core of its growth strategy, we are very pleased to add our fourth electric vehicle to our product range. North America is one of the top priority markets in TEMSA's growth plans. We have achieved great success in this market for approximately 8 years. Especially in the motorcoach segment, with a market share reaching 10%, we have become one of the strongest players in this category. Now, with our electric TS45E model and the renewed TS45 vehicle, we are bringing a brand new atmosphere to the market.“.
20-30 TIMES THE AVERAGE EXPORT FROM Türkiye
Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, recalling that they made their first electric vehicle exports to Sweden about a year ago, said, “Following Sweden, we started our electric vehicle deliveries in markets such as Czech Republic, Romania, Lithuania, and France. With the strength we receive from our partners Sabancı Holding and Skoda Transportation, we will announce new agreements in the coming days. These vehicles, whose entire design, engineering, and battery packaging are done in our facilities in Adana, are the most concrete demonstration of TEMSA's expertise in electric vehicles and the high-tech infrastructure of Turkish industry. Considering the export value per kilogram, each of these vehicles creates an export value reaching 20-30 times the Turkish average. Therefore, this success is not only TEMSA's success, but also a success for the Turkish economy and Turkish industry.”.
400 KILOMETERS ON A 4-HOUR CHARGE.
Providing detailed information about the electric TS45E and the updated TS45 models, TEMSA North America Country Director Fatih Kozan said, “Our TS45E model can travel approximately 400 kilometers with just a 4-hour charge. The vehicle's battery packs were also specially developed by TEMSA engineers according to North American conditions. We have also integrated the single-pedal technology, which we developed in-house and which drivers are particularly pleased with, into this vehicle. In this context, instead of gas and brake pedals, our vehicle only has a gas pedal. This battery-powered pedal both accelerates the vehicle and slows it down or even stops it when you take your foot off the pedal. This technology increases the vehicle's range by up to 15 percent, while also reducing brake maintenance costs and maintenance times. On the other hand, there is another very important design model that passengers do not see. Since all the electrically powered parts in the vehicle are positioned as close to each other as possible, service and maintenance processes are also extremely simplified compared to competing models.’.
Stating that the TS45 model will also be on the roads in the USA with its new look, Fatih Kozan said, “We first launched this vehicle in 2014 and have sold approximately 250 units to date. With the touches we have made, we have made it much more aesthetically pleasing while also increasing passenger and driver comfort. We believe that the TS45 will also become one of the symbolic vehicles of intercity travel in North America.’.
