Tusaş announced that it has successfully completed firing tests by integrating the Şimşek Target Aircraft System into its ANKA UAV platform.
The Turkish military industry is adding new, technology-intensive projects that complete increasingly challenging and complex tasks. Tusaş announced the successful completion of test firings with the Şimşek Target Aircraft system integrated into its ANKA UAV platform. With this integration, it marks the first time in Türkiye that a propulsion system has been successfully deployed from another platform by a UAV system.
Lightning Target Aircraft System
ŞİMŞEK High Speed Target Aircraft System is an indigenous TAI design initiated as a Research and Development project in 2009 to meet the training needs of the air defence units of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF).
ŞİMŞEK High Speed Target Aircraft System, which is being designed in an open architecture structure that can be shaped according to customer requirements, will be used in air-to-air, surface-to-air, anti-aircraft and missile systems, firing and radar tracking training, and will meet the requirements for High Speed Target Aircraft with characteristics close to the flight characteristics of combat aircraft and missiles.
ANKA UAV
Designed by Turkish Aerospace Industries engineers and with the participation of many domestic subcontractors, the Turkish Unmanned Aerial Vehicle "ANKA" has completed its assembly and production and was rolled out of the hangar on July 16, 2010, at a ceremony held at the Turkish Aerospace Industries facilities. After being launched, ANKA's engine was also started, and it aims to be the world's best operational system in its category.
The ANKA Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System, which made its first flight on December 30, 2010, received a serial production contract for 10 aircraft (ANKA-S) in October 2013. Work on the ANKA-S Project has been successfully completed.
