Baykar subsidiary Fergani Space launched its first satellite using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. FGN-100-d1’It successfully launched 'i' into space. This groundbreaking step in the Small-GEO category marked the beginning of a new generation of satellite technologies that will provide global coverage in communications and geolocation.
Weighing approximately 100 kg FGN-100-d1 The satellite is designed to provide high-speed internet access and accurate geolocation services worldwide. Specifically targeting communication needs in rural and hard-to-reach areas, this project is pioneering future technologies. Positioned in low Earth orbit (LEO) at an altitude of 500-600 km, the satellite will provide low latency and high data transfer speeds. The satellite also has communication capabilities in Ku, Ka, S, and L bands.
If FGN-100-d1 proves successful, it is expected that these satellites will also provide the global positioning services that the Turkish Armed Forces will need in the future. This will allow Turkey to avoid being affected by geo-jamming and interference in GPS usage, thus providing independent and secure navigation capabilities in military operations.
Fergani's initiative strengthens Türkiye's presence in space technologies while also enabling it to achieve a competitive position in the global market. FGN-100-d1, This is Fergani's first step in the space field, symbolizing the beginning of its satellite constellation project. This satellite will be used as a test platform for the satellite systems that Fergani will develop in the future, and will provide an important ground for field trials of technological innovations.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baykar Selcuk Bayraktar’Under its leadership, Fergani Space is further advancing Türkiye's contribution to the space industry with this achievement. This development once again demonstrates Türkiye's rise in space technologies and its determination to have a voice in the global arena.
