The Turkish automotive supply chain is undergoing a strategic transformation. Mold manufacturer Karel Kalıp has leveraged its industry expertise into its own brand. The company offers a practical solution to the chaos of urban transportation. Therefore, the firm announced KAREA, a domestically produced electric micro-vehicle. The vehicle will enter mass production in March. This new generation vehicle, which will roll off the assembly line at the Kocaeli Çayırova facility, stands out with its accessible pricing policy. Thus, KAREA will directly accelerate the electric transformation on the roads.
From Supplier to Manufacturer: KAREA's Industrial Infrastructure
In the automotive world, subcontractors rarely become main manufacturers. However, Karel Kalıp is resolutely overcoming this challenging hurdle. Specifically, since 1994, the company has been producing plastic injection molds. Moreover, the firm holds a leading position in Türkiye in bumper and dashboard molds. Furthermore, it ranks among the top five manufacturers in the European market. The company, which directly supplies molds and parts to many global automotive giants, including Türkiye's global mobility brand Togg, is applying this deep engineering expertise to the KAREA project. Indeed, engineers have optimized all processes, from the vehicle's body architecture to battery packaging. In short, KAREA promises a robust infrastructure thanks to aerodynamic tests and digital simulations.

New Facilities and Micro-Mobility Vision in Çayırova
KAREA's production journey begins in Çayırova district of Kocaeli. The company has completed the necessary Environmental Impact Assessment application for this new electric vehicle. Furthermore, the new production line has an initial capacity of 1,600 units per year. Moreover, the facility initially creates 30 qualified jobs. Ultimately, the company is spending a total investment budget of 9.3 million Turkish Lira. As a result, the assembly line directly strengthens the domestic supply chain.
A New Alternative for the Urban User
The electric vehicle revolution, which gained momentum especially in Türkiye with Togg, is expanding to a new class with KAREA. This is because large SUV models cannot easily navigate narrow streets. Therefore, metropolitan residents who experience parking problems constitute the main target audience for this compact vehicle. Nevertheless, the company will share official technical specifications at the launch in March. However, experts predict that the vehicle's biggest asset will be its accessible price tag. As a result, KAREA is positioned very strongly against the imported giants of the market.
Multiplier Effect in Sustainable Transportation
Overall, Türkiye is building a manufacturer-centric market in the electric mobility transformation. Indeed, the KAREA project proves that the domestic industry is responding quickly to changing trends. As a result, this micro-vehicle, which will hit the roads in March, will reduce urban carbon emissions. Furthermore, the vehicle will minimize transportation costs for citizens. KAREA is ushering in a new era as an effective part of the larger automotive ecosystem.
