Milgem's 3rd ship, Burgazada, is starting its mission.

Milgem 3, TCG Burgazada, will join the Turkish Navy in a ceremony to be held on November 4, 2018.

Within the scope of the National Ship Project (MİLGEM), TCG Burgazada, the third ship of the project, will join the Naval Forces with a ceremony to be held on November 4, 2018.

The MİLGEM Project, launched in 2008 to meet the needs of the Turkish Navy, is rapidly nearing completion. Following the launch of the first domestically built ship, TCG Heybeliada, on September 27, 2011, the newest corvette, TCG Burgazada, constructed at the Istanbul Shipyard Command, is being delivered to the Navy.

TCG Burgazada was launched on June 18, 2016, and began its test voyages. Over 27 months, the domestically produced corvette tested all its weapon systems, anti-submarine defense systems, anti-aircraft technologies, and seaworthiness. Seahawk SB70 attack helicopters conducted test landings on its helipad. According to Milliyet newspaper, the ship, capable of patrolling the open sea, is fully equipped for surface and underwater warfare and weighs 2,300 tons. Capable of reaching speeds of 30 knots (55 km/h), the corvette has a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 km) at economical speed.

Capable of remaining at sea for 10 days without support, TCG Burgazada is equipped with new generation GENESIS sensors. The 100-meter-long and 15-meter-wide corvette can carry 20 tons of weapons.
