Türkiye's technology and industry giant, Arçelik, has opened the doors to a new era in its global growth strategy. The company, which has risen to become Europe's largest white goods manufacturer and transcended borders through integrations with world giants like Whirlpool and Hitachi, completely renewed its top management following the General Assembly held on March 16. After the successful 11-year term of Hakan Bulgurlu, Can Dinçer took the helm as CEO. The company not only changed its CEO but also entrusted its operations in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, along with global supply chain management, to a new leadership team with engineering backgrounds. This massive organisational transformation stands out as the clearest strategic step in Arçelik's transition from a classic white goods manufacturer to a global technology ecosystem.

The global consumer electronics and home technology market is witnessing unprecedented competition due to the aggressive growth of Far Eastern manufacturers, Europe's changing green energy standards, and fluctuations in supply chains. Arçelik is accelerating its moves on this challenging global chessboard. When reading between the lines of the company's new senior appointments, it becomes clear that Arçelik aims not only to maintain its market share but to establish absolute dominance in emerging new geographies (MENA and Asia-Pacific).

From Hakan Bulgurlu to Can Dinçer: A Changing of the Guard in Global Footprint

Hakan Bulgurlu, who played a significant role in Arçelik becoming the number one in Europe and among the top three players globally, handed over his 11-year CEO role to Can Dinçer, who grew up within the company. This change is a testament to the uninterrupted continuation of the company's sustainable growth philosophy.

The new CEO, Can Dinçer, managed a vast geography spanning from Türkiye to the Americas and Asia-Pacific throughout his 33-year career. Having served as General Manager of Arçelik Pazarlama A.Ş. for over nine years, Dinçer modernised the company's dealer and service network according to the requirements of the digital age. With his past experience as President of TÜRKBESD (Turkish White Goods Manufacturers' Association), giving him full command of the sector's macro dynamics, Dinçer's primary mission will be to transform Arçelik from a brand that merely produces hardware into a global giant combining software and hardware in smart home technologies.

Engineering-Backed Leaders in MENA and Asia

In the new era, Arçelik divided its global markets into two main axes and appointed leaders with direct engineering and R&D backgrounds to head these critical regions. This indicates that the company will now build its marketing strategy on technological superiority.

Cem Kural: R&D-Focused Commerce in the MENA Region

Cem Kural, who was Arçelik A.Ş.'s Deputy General Manager responsible for Procurement, Supply Chain, and Digital, was appointed to the roles of Arçelik Türkiye General Manager and Deputy General Manager (CCO) responsible for Commerce in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. It is no coincidence that Kural, a graduate of METU Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a former Arçelik R&D Director, was appointed to this role. Türkiye and the MENA region are among the fastest markets for smart device adoption. With his engineering vision, Kural will construct sales strategies in these markets based on digitalisation.

Zafer Üstüner: Deepening Presence in Asia and Africa

The company's vast and challenging markets, including Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, were entrusted to Zafer Üstüner. A Boğaziçi University Electronics Engineering graduate who served as CEO of Arçelik Hitachi Home Appliances, Üstüner became Deputy General Manager (CCO) responsible for Commerce in the Asia, Russia, and Sub-Saharan Africa region. Having gained tremendous momentum in the Asia-Pacific region, especially through the Hitachi integration, Arçelik, under Üstüner's leadership, will challenge its Far Eastern competitors on their home turf.

Digital Transformation and Supply Chain: The Alp Karahasanoğlu Factor

In the post-pandemic world, the soft underbelly of industrial companies has been their supply chains. To secure this vital department, Arçelik appointed Alp Karahasanoğlu, General Manager of WAT Mobility & WAT Motor from the Koç Group companies, as Deputy General Manager responsible for Procurement, Supply Chain, and Digital.

A METU Mechanical Engineering graduate, Karahasanoğlu's background includes managing a hardware company like WAT Mobility, which produces electric vehicle charging systems and motor technologies – a fact of significant strategic importance. Karahasanoğlu will manage the flow of parts between Arçelik's global factories using AI-powered digital systems, fortifying the company's operational resilience against global crises.

Future Vision

This new, strong team, which officially assumed their roles with the General Assembly in mid-March, is carrying Arçelik, Türkiye's biggest asset in technology exports, into a new era. This leadership cadre, all with engineering backgrounds and deep knowledge of the field, R&D, and global commerce, will enable Arçelik to transcend technological boundaries and become a force that does not just compete in the global market but defines its rules.
