With the support of TÜBİTAK, a prototype of Türkiye's first miniature artificial heart pump system that can be implanted in the body has been developed.

Miniature artificial heart pumps, which will be produced 80 percent cheaper than imported products, will be made available to patients.

The project, initiated by Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Eğrican from Yeditepe University, was later completed under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Lazoğlu from Koç University. In the project, “Design, Analysis, and Prototype Production of a Miniature Artificial Heart Pump System,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Lazoğlu and Prof. Dr. Suha Küçükaksu from the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Florence Nightingale Hospital collaborated to develop a prototype of Türkiye's first miniature artificial heart pump system. This groundbreaking project in the healthcare field involved designing an artificial heart pump to be implanted inside the body. The miniature heart pump, with its unique 5 cm diameter design, has been patented.
