Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır officially announced a historic project that will secure Türkiye's location data. The first signatures were signed within the scope of the Map and Navigation Application Development Call. Başarsoft, BVB, and Togg have joined forces for the project. The new software will provide citizens and institutions with a much safer, faster, and smarter routing experience. Furthermore, this move will create a strong alternative to foreign navigation applications, permanently consolidating our country's digital sovereignty.
Smart Guidance with Artificial Intelligence and Big Data
The new-generation domestic navigation software will draw its power directly from artificial intelligence and big data technologies. Modern transportation systems require analysing traffic conditions and road situations within seconds. Therefore, engineers are establishing a national data infrastructure with a massive user capacity that is updated instantly.
Başarsoft's deep-rooted map expertise, BVB's navigation infrastructure, and Togg's in-car smart mobility platform merge perfectly at this point. Consequently, what emerges is not just a simple map, but a major digital assistant. The system will offer the driver the most optimal routes while also calculating energy efficiency.
Why is Digital Sovereignty a Vital Issue?
Today, location and movement data rank among the most critical cyber elements for the national security of countries. Storing the daily travel habits of millions of citizens on foreign servers poses a significant strategic vulnerability. Therefore, the state aims to increase national capacity in location-based technologies.
This new system being developed will enable Türkiye to securely process its own data within its own borders. As a result, the country will completely eliminate its technological foreign dependency.
Wide Impact Area from Mobility to Disaster Management
The application area of the domestic software will not be limited to passenger cars. The system will be directly integrated into logistics networks, smart cities, tourism, and e-commerce sectors. Moreover, one of the application's most critical functions will emerge in disaster and emergency management. Rescue teams will manage operations second by second during crises using a completely domestic and secure route infrastructure.
From Consumer to Producer
This major collaboration will transform Türkiye from being merely a consumer in location-based software. Türkiye is evolving into a technology developer that produces its own strategic solutions in this field.
The system, which will initially facilitate the lives of users and institutions within the country, will eventually open up to international markets. By building an ecosystem where its own vehicles operate on its own software, Türkiye will rise to a much more competitive position in the global technology race.
