A contract has been signed between Vestel Defense Industry and the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry (SSM) for the Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Development Project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Undersecretary of Defense Industry Murad Bayar stated that two domestic companies competed for the Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and that an agreement was ultimately reached with Vestel Defense, adding, "Vestel's investment alone is 25 million dollars, and they completed these studies without any assistance from the government.".
Bayar stated that work is ongoing on three different UAVs, adding that domestically produced mini UAVs have begun to be used by the Turkish Armed Forces, that tactical UAVs will be developed by Vestel, and that the larger ANKA UAV, which TAI is working on, made its first flight last Thursday.

I congratulate Vestel, a well-established and domestic company, for its support to the Turkish defense industry. I hope this continues. I support a 100% domestic production policy in the defense industry.
