The TÜBİTAK Alternative Energy Vehicle Races are being held this year in the Hydromobile and Electromobile categories. The races, which will take place at the Kocaeli Körfez Race Track, will conclude on August 9th.
The aim of the competitions organized in different categories is to increase domestic production of vehicles powered by alternative energy and to develop high value-added products, to enable participants to gain research opportunities related to alternative energies, to follow developments around the world, to gain experience, and thus to raise awareness about the use of alternative energy sources throughout the country.
As of 2014, TÜBİTAK has supported over 500 solar, hydrogen, and battery electric vehicles from 65 universities. For the 2015 competitions, 58 teams applied in the Electromobile category and 19 in the Hydromobile category. Those teams that meet the necessary technical requirements will compete this week at the Kocaeli Körfez Race Track.
