Turkish automotive company Karsan has made the first delivery of electric buses ordered from Italy's TPER company last year.
The 18-meter-long Karsan e-ATA model was unveiled at a ceremony held in Piazza Maggiore in the center of Bologna. This vehicle became the city's first 18-meter electric bus and Italy's first 18-meter bus with a pantograph electric system. The pantograph system allows the vehicle to be charged via a lever mounted on the roof.
Karsan will deliver a total of 100 electric buses to TPER by the end of 2023. With this delivery, the company aims to strengthen its position in the European market and contribute to the electric vehicle revolution. In a social media post, Karsan stated, “The future is here. The electric evolution has begun. Welcome to Bologna.”.
