Deliveries of the pedestal-mounted Stinger (KMS), Türkiye's first national air defense system developed by ASELSAN, have been completed. The last five KMS systems were ceremonially handed over to the Turkish Armed Forces.
Speaking at the handover ceremony held at the ASELSAN facilities, Undersecretary of Defense Industry Murad Bayar stated that the KMS project has pioneered many applications in the Turkish defense industry. He noted that when the project was first proposed, foreign alternatives were considered, and after very difficult decision-making processes, it was decided to develop it nationally. Bayar said, "It was a knife-edge debate, but thankfully it started this way. As of today, it has become an excellent product." Bayar added that the Turkish defense industry has reached a certain point in production and design, and that their priority in future projects will be to enhance the capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces.
