The HEYBELİADA (F-511) Corvette, whose construction began on January 22, 2007 at the Istanbul Shipyard Command under the MİLGEM (National Ship) Project, was launched on September 27, 2008, and embarked on its maiden voyage on November 2, 2010.
With the MİLGEM Project, the Turkish Naval Forces Command is, for the first time in the history of the Republic of Turkey, carrying out all design, integration, and analysis phases of a warship, including its combat systems, entirely domestically. Through this project, the Turkish Naval Forces Command has brought together numerous national industrial organizations, universities, and scientific institutions, enabling Türkiye to design and produce its own warships through accumulated knowledge and experience.
