Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK Prepares for a New Challenge in Norway

Karsan's e-ATAK autonomous vehicle is preparing for a new challenge in Norway.

Karsan's e-ATAK electric bus, equipped with autonomous driving technology and transporting passengers in Stavanger, Norway since May 2022, is now preparing for a new challenge.

Karsan, Türkiye's leading automotive manufacturer, is opening a new chapter in autonomous driving technology. The Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK is an electric bus equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving technology. This bus can safely navigate defined routes without human intervention, sensing road and environmental conditions.

Karsan's autonomous e-ATAK has been transporting passengers in Stavanger, Norway, since May 2022. This city boasts Europe's longest tunnel network. The autonomous e-ATAK easily navigates these tunnels, overcoming obstacles such as limited GPS and satellite communication. Karsan has released a video showing the autonomous e-ATAK successfully traversing an 800-meter tunnel.

Karsan is collaborating with US-based ADASTEC to develop autonomous driving technology. ADASTEC is a company that provides autonomous driving software and cloud technology. Karsan and ADASTEC describe the autonomous e-ATAK as the technology of the future for the cities of the future.

The autonomous e-ATAK stands out not only for its driving technology but also for its interior design. Offering a driverless experience, the bus provides a spacious and comfortable interior. The autonomous e-ATAK is also an environmentally friendly vehicle. With a range of 300 km on a full charge, the bus operates with zero emissions. Karsan plans to offer the autonomous e-ATAK to other countries and cities. By pushing the boundaries of autonomous transportation, Karsan is redefining mobility.

I take great pleasure in following technology and, of course, Türkiye’s national and domestically developed projects. Seeing a new product or a new venture built in Türkiye genuinely makes me happy, which is why I decided to launch yuzde100yerli.com in 2006.
