With the encrypted mobile phone developed and produced by TÜBİTAK, Türkiye has become one of the 6 NATO countries capable of producing encrypted mobile phones.
TÜBİTAK engineers, who made the new model of the device, MILCEP-K2, more ergonomic and smaller, also aim to add 3G capability to the device, which offers encrypted chat.
The TÜBİTAK BİLGEM National Electronic and Cryptology Research Institute (UEKAE), which operates to ensure the communication and information security of state institutions, develops high-tech secure communication systems. One of these technologies is related to mobile phones, one of today's most popular mobile wireless communication devices. To ensure the secure sharing of important information during mobile phone conversations, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM UEKAE has developed a mobile encrypted GSM device with domestically produced hardware and software. Called 'MİLCEP', the device provides end-to-end secure communication over the GSM network by encrypting voice and data. Used by the President, Prime Minister, Ministers, and high-ranking military officials, MİLCEP allows for the sharing of nationally classified information.
