Otokar, a Koç Group company, will now also produce its Sultan buses, used in more than 40 countries, in Iran.
According to the technology and licensing agreement signed between Otokar, Türkiye's leading automotive manufacturer, and the Iranian company OGHAB, the assembly, sales, and marketing of Sultan buses to be sold in Iran will be carried out by OGHAB.
Stating that Otokar has now reached the position of a company that exports not only vehicles but also technology and licenses, Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç said, "It is a source of pride and satisfaction to see the results of operating in the automotive sector with products whose intellectual property rights belong to us in such positive developments.".
“"WE HAVE THE ADVANTAGE OF OPERATING UNDER OUR OWN BRAND."”
Highlighting the significance of Otokar's export of technology and licenses to Iran as a demonstration of the progress made by the Turkish automotive industry, Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç stated, “Our Sultan vehicles, like all our other buses, were designed entirely by Turkish engineers. In the last 10 years, we have allocated 310 million TL to R&D. Our investments in engineering and R&D enable us to develop products better suited to our customers' requests and needs, and to take faster steps. Thanks to our ownership of intellectual property rights and our flexible production capabilities, our Sultan buses, the undisputed leader of the Turkish small bus market, have achieved success abroad as well. Thanks to the technology and license agreement we have made with OGHAB, we will now be offering Sultan buses to users in Iran as well.”.
Highlighting that the agreement marks the first time technology transfer will take place in the small bus sector in Turkey, Serdar Görgüç stated: “We are proud to be making history in the small bus sector by exporting technology abroad with this agreement. Our business partner in the project, OGHAB, will be responsible for the assembly of the vehicles in Iran and their sales and marketing under the Otokar brand. Although the number of sales and the turnover to be obtained will change depending on homologation regulations and market conditions in Iran, we are confident that Sultan will achieve great success in the growing Iranian bus market in a short time.”
