Finland is entering a new era in sustainable and innovative transportation solutions. Karsan's Autonomous e-ATAK, developed in collaboration with ADASTEC, is hitting the roads in Tampere as part of a vision to transform Europe's transportation infrastructure.
This development reinforces Karsan's leadership in the Scandinavian market and symbolizes the company's strategic expansion. Karsan is expanding its presence in the Scandinavian market with its electric and autonomous vehicles. The autonomous e-ATAK increases the company's effectiveness in this market, enabling it to play a pioneering role in sustainable transportation solutions.
Following a sales agreement for autonomous vehicles signed with the Norwegian VY Group, the people of Tampere are transitioning to the comfort of driverless transportation. The autonomous e-ATAK, which has successfully operated in the US and Norway, will now serve as Finland's first full-size driverless passenger bus.
As Karsan CEO Okan Baş stated, “Karsan continues to achieve firsts in Scandinavian countries. By implementing Finland's first autonomous vehicle project, we will continue to transform the transportation infrastructure of the world, especially Europe, with our electric and autonomous vehicles.”
The Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK is equipped with Level-4 Autonomous technology and has the capacity to operate under various conditions and manage all driving operations. This is the most advanced autonomous driving technology required for the bus to travel safely without a driver.
Equipped with Level 4 Autonomous technology, the Autonomous e-ATAK can move autonomously along a planned route at a speed of 40 km/h in all weather conditions, day or night. Performing all the tasks a bus driver would normally do – such as approaching stops, managing boarding and alighting, and directing traffic at intersections, crossings, and traffic lights – the Autonomous e-ATAK, with its features shaping the future of public transportation, will begin service in Tampere, Finland.
