The Defence Industry Executive Committee met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Davutoğlu to discuss the issues on its agenda and to make decisions regarding these issues.
At the meeting, where national projects such as the National Satellite Launch System Project, the National Combat Aircraft Development Project, and the Long-Range Air Defense System were also evaluated, a decision was made to begin mass production of the National Infantry Rifle MPT-76. With the distribution of the National Infantry Rifle, of which 35,000 will be produced in the first phase, to the units, the era of the G3, which is currently effectively used in the Turkish Armed Forces, will come to an end.
