The qualification process for the National Infantry Rifle MPT 76 has been completed.

The MPT 76, a national infantry rifle designed and developed entirely with national resources by the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK), has completed its qualification process.

Defense Industry President İsmail Demir announced on his social media account that the National Infantry Rifle MPT 76 has successfully completed all qualification tests. Improvements were made to the MPT 76 based on feedback from the field, reducing its weight by 400 grams to 3.750 kg.

The National Infantry Rifle (MPT-76), produced entirely using national resources and without technical support from abroad, has flawlessly passed all 42 rigorous tests, including those for cold and hot weather, sand, rain, and mud, which are NATO standards. The rifle continues to function flawlessly even in temperatures ranging from -40 to 65 degrees Celsius, under pressurized water threats, and in mud, and can fire 650 rounds per minute. With a body structure weighing 4.1 kilograms, the rifle has an effective range of up to 600 meters. Using 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, the MPT-76 has a barrel life of up to 12,000 shots. Our national rifle, which has been well-received in foreign markets, will be produced in a total of 34,500 units by various institutions and delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in 2017.
