The Alpagu fixed-wing kamikaze UAV will soon be ready for duty.

STM's fixed-wing kamikaze UAV, Alpagu, has successfully passed firing tests. Alpagu, which can be carried by a single soldier and finds its target using artificial intelligence, is ready for duty.

STM, a pioneer in tactical mini-UAV systems in the Turkish defense industry, has surpassed another critical milestone for Alpagu, the fixed-wing member of its "Striker UAV" family. In the latest test footage shared by the company, Alpagu, which can be carried by a single soldier and launched from a launcher, is seen destroying its target with pinpoint accuracy. This development is the most concrete evidence yet that Alpagu is ready for entry into the inventory and active duty.

As the nature of asymmetric warfare conditions and anti-terrorism operations changes, the solutions developed to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces are also becoming “smarter, lighter, and more lethal.” Developed by STM (Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc.) and known as the sibling of the rotary-wing KARGU, Alpagu, With its fixed-wing structure and high speed, it is poised to change the balance of power on the field.

Images shared through STM's official channels documented that Alpagu flawlessly completed its launcher separation, flight stabilization, target acquisition, and engagement (dive) phases.

“Smart Strike with "Image Processing" and "Deep Learning"

The most important feature that distinguishes Alpagu from its competitors is that it is not only an explosive carrier, but also an AI-powered "eye". The unique embedded software developed by STM engineers gives the system the following capabilities:

  • Deep Learning Algorithms: Alpagu processes data from its electro-optical sensors in real time. Thanks to its deep learning capabilities, it can distinguish, lock onto, and track stationary or moving targets, even on complex terrain.
  • For Use by a Single Person: Thanks to its total weight and compact design, the system can be carried by a single soldier without needing extra logistical support, and can be set up and fired within minutes.
  • Launcher System: The launcher, equipped with a pneumatic or pressurized launch mechanism, allows the UAV to reach a safe altitude and speed and deploy its wings. This system enables firing from confined spaces or behind cover.

The Advantage of "Precision Shooting" in Asymmetric Warfare

Alpagu, in the literature “"Loitering Munition" It is one of the most modern examples of its class. It is specifically designed to neutralize beyond-line-of-sight (BVLOS) threats, particularly in urban operations or rugged terrain.

  • Exploration and Strike Combined: After taking off, Alpagu can loitere over the target area for a period of time, conducting reconnaissance and surveillance. When a threat is detected, it dives and destroys the target using its kinetic energy and warhead.
  • Cancellation and Return from Assignment: Thanks to its advanced mission planning capabilities, it's possible to abandon an attack or change the target until the last moment. This feature is vital for preventing collateral damage.

The New Game Changer for Special Forces

The successful completion of the tests indicates that Alpagu will soon take its place in the backpacks of Turkish soldiers. With its lightweight structure, silent flight, and high accuracy, Alpagu will offer Special Forces and commando units the ability to conduct pinpoint operations from kilometers away without approaching the enemy.

Alpagu, the most critical link in STM's "Digital Forces" concept after KARGU and TOGAN, is taking its place in the skies as a new symbol of Türkiye's independence in "smart ammunition" technology.
