The "Cheap and Environmentally Friendly Asphalt Technology" developed by TÜBİTAK MAM will begin to be implemented on highways. The new technology is expected to save approximately 157.5 million TL annually.
The "Warm Mix Asphalt Technology" developed by TÜBİTAK MAM Chemical Technology Institute has reached the stage of being licensed for production by companies for application on highways. The project, which began on September 15, 2012, was supported under the TÜBİTAK Public Research Programs (KAMAG) and the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) was the client. It was completed in 36 months under the management and execution of TÜBİTAK MAM Chemical Institute and the execution of the KGM R&D Department.
Nuh Yılmaz, Business Development Manager at TÜBİTAK MAM, stated that Warm Mix Asphalt technology offers advantages over existing asphalt applications in both economic and environmental terms. He explained that thanks to the additives used in Warm Mix Asphalt technology, the mixture preparation temperature is reduced by 15-35°C, bringing it down to temperatures between 115-140°C, resulting in approximately 30% savings in fuel and electricity.
