TCSG DOST, one of four Coast Guard Search and Rescue Vessels built by RMK Marine, was launched and is scheduled for delivery in September 2011.
The launching ceremony of TCSG Dost, built by RMK Marine, the first shipyard to undertake the largest combat ship project in the history of the Turkish private sector, was attended by Minister of Interior Beşir Atalay, Minister of National Defense M. Vecdi Gönül, Undersecretary of Defense Industry Murad Bayar, Commander of the Northern Sea Area Vice Admiral Mehmet Otuzbiroğlu, Commander of the Coast Guard İzzet Artunç, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Koç Holding Mustafa V. Koç.
The ships will operate in search and rescue missions, as well as patrol, anti-smuggling, maritime firefighting, and marine pollution prevention. Within the scope of the project, the design and production of key military systems such as command and control system software and hardware, electro-optical director, communication systems, gyro systems, and consoles are being carried out domestically, along with the platform integration of weapons and electronic systems. The ships will be equipped to fully perform all the tasks they may undertake, including helicopter operation capability.
