The Defense Industry Executive Board has given the green light for the first domestically produced fighter jet, which is planned to enter service in the 2020s. The conceptual design, the first step of the project, will take 2 years.
In the 100th year of the Republic, Turkish skies will witness the arrival of the first Turkish fighter jet. The decision to launch the first Turkish fighter aircraft was made at a meeting of the Defense Industry Executive Committee chaired by Prime Minister Erdoğan.
It was decided to conduct a conceptual design to meet the Air Force Command's jet training and combat aircraft needs from the 2020s onwards.

We did it!
On February 21, 2024, Türkiye's first fighter jet successfully completed its maiden flight.
We waited 14 years to write this review.
It's easy to build planes, cars, and tanks; what's difficult is mass production. For example, you're currently doing R&D work, you call it cutting-edge technology, but we'll see the results in 2020. The technology then will be far more advanced than the plane in the current project. Today's technology requires production today, but this is also an achievement. 67% of the boron ore used in all armored vehicles is in our country, but we lack the technology. They buy it from us, process it, and sell it back to us.
It's a fantastic project; if it comes to fruition, nobody will be able to challenge us.
"How happy I am to be a Turk! Turkey has the power to do everything on its own, as long as it has national leaders. As Azmi Yalcin said above, employees are life insurance, meaning we are with you to the end, treating them with the utmost care and overcoming all their difficulties. They will work and produce with even more enthusiasm. I would be pleased if you kept me informed of the innovations."
FIRST, TO BUILD THE AIRCRAFT, A SYSTEM MUST BE ESTABLISHED THAT ENSURES THE SAFETY OF THE ENGINEERS AND WORKERS WHO WILL BUILD IT... OTHERWISE, BUILDING THAT AIRCRAFT WILL BE DIFFICULT... IT IS CLEAR HOW THOSE YOUNG ENGINEERS WERE ELIMINATED UNDER THE GUISE OF SUICIDE... IF WE CAN SUCCEED, HOW FORTUNATE IT WILL BE FOR THE TURKISH NATION.
I wholeheartedly support this; it should be a design different from its counterparts. I think future fighter jets will be smaller and faster, and consequently, the weapons they carry will be lightweight but effective. We expect and support a design that takes all of this into consideration.
If it becomes a great project, our domestic industry will develop greatly.
