The first guided launch of the Bozdoğan Air-to-Air Missile, developed domestically by TÜBİTAK SAGE as part of the Göktuğ Project since 2013, was successfully carried out in November 2019.
The Bozdoğan missile, equipped with an infrared seeker head, was fired from a launch platform representing a fighter jet, prior to live-fire tests from the aircraft. The missile engaged a target flying at an altitude of approximately 4 km, and the test firing resulted in a highly accurate encounter.
The Bozdoğan, which flies at speeds far exceeding the speed of sound and possesses high maneuverability, is also planned to undergo air-to-air firing tests in 2020. Upon completion of the project, in addition to the air-to-ground munitions we use in our fighter jets, our air-to-air munitions will also be fully domesticated by TÜBİTAK SAGE.
