Production has begun on a fabric developed by Istanbul Technical University (ITU) that resembles household curtains in texture and appearance, and that blocks electromagnetic waves.

A special curtain that blocks electromagnetic waves, developed by Associate Professor Dr. Cevdet Işık of Istanbul Technical University (ITU), is reported to significantly absorb and neutralize electromagnetic waves emitted by electronic devices such as base stations, wireless internet modems, radios, and mobile phones.

Production of the curtain, which is said to block electromagnetic waves known to be harmful to health and has been approved by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), has begun in Bursa.
