Italian aircraft manufacturer Piaggio Aerospace, which continues its activities under the Turkish defence and aerospace giant Baykar, has signed a historic delivery. The company's iconic model, the P.180 Avanti EVO, has officially entered the Japanese market after overcoming challenging certification processes. The aircraft, which was delivered to the Japanese Nakanihon Air company, became the last link in the global rise of Piaggio under the management of Baykar.
Having restructured and increased its production capacity with Baykar's strategic investments, Piaggio Aerospace waved the flag in Japan, one of the countries with the highest aviation standards. The company, one of Japan's leading aviation companies Nakanihon Air‘to the first P.180 Avanti EVO aircraft was delivered.
Intercontinental Journey from Genoa to Nagoya
Landing at Nagoya Airport in Japan on 16 January 2026, the aircraft successfully completed a challenging route by taking off from Genoa, Italy for delivery. Avanti EVO, which reached Japan by crossing the airspaces of Greece, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, India and Vietnam, proved its performance and durability once again with this long-range flight.
Simultaneously with this delivery, Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), Japan has officially approved the “Type Certificate” for the P.180 Avanti EVO. This is a critical technical achievement that paves the way for other potential customers in the Japanese market.

The flight details of the historic delivery to Japan by Piaggio Aerospace, a subsidiary of Baykar, have become clear. P.180 Avanti EVO, which took off from Italy, travelled through the airspace of 10 countries in its marathon across continents and landed in Japan.
The official flight map shared by Piaggio Aerospace revealed that this delivery was not only a commercial success, but also an operational tour de force. The aircraft took off from Genoa, Italy, to reach Nagoya, Japan. 7,688 nautical miles (approximately 14,240 km) has come a long way.

Avanti EVO proved its durability by flying over Europe, Africa and Asia during this long and challenging journey. The following countries were on the route of the aircraft respectively:

“Turkey” Good News and Production Target from CEO Tomassini
CEO of Piaggio Aerospace Giovanni Tomassini, In his statement on the delivery, Tomassini drew attention to the company's aggressive growth in the last 3 months. In Tomassini's statement “Turkey” the detail did not escape the eyes:
“Avanti EVO entered two new markets in just three months. Firstly We sold two aircraft to a customer in Turkey, and now our first delivery to Japan. These two milestones confirm the continued strong international demand for the aircraft. In line with this demand, annual production up to 25-30 pieces ”we are planning to issue it."
This statement reveals that production has accelerated since Baykar took over the company and that the Turkish market has played an active role in this process.
“Business” aircraft for special missions
Nakanihon Air, the first operator in Japan, is a well-established company with 57 helicopters and 7 fixed-wing aircraft in its fleet. The company will use the P.180 Avanti EVO for charter flights as well as critical missions such as emergency medical services (EMS) and aerial reconnaissance.
The P.180 Avanti EVO is characterised by its unique design that combines the fuel efficiency of turboprop engines with the speed of jet engines. The “pusher prop” configuration and wing structure provide the aircraft with both a large cabin volume and operational flexibility.
