Co Print Quadro Kickstarter Details Announced: Early Bird Price Set at $649 for 4-Independent-Toolhead 3D Printer

Co Print has announced the Kickstarter price for the Quadro, featuring four independent toolheads. With early reservation, the price drops to $499. The campaign launches in October 2026.

Co Print has announced the Kickstarter launch date and pricing details for its Quadro multi-colour 3D printer, featuring four independent toolheads. According to the company's third progress report, published on 27 August 2026, the Quadro will be available on Kickstarter in October 2026. The Super Early Bird price has been set at $649, with the regular retail price set at $899.

Pricing Strategy and Early Reservation Benefits

A tiered pricing system has been established exclusively for the community ahead of the Quadro's Kickstarter campaign. Users who made Early Reservations by 25 August 2026 will receive a total of $200 in benefits, comprising a $150 cashback and a $50 store credit. This brings the printer's Super Early Bird price of $649 down to $499 for these users.

Those who reserve from 26 August onwards will receive a total of $100 in benefits, with $75 cashback and $25 store credit. For this group, the price drops to $574, representing approximately 36 per cent below the $899 regular retail price. Co Print has decided to extend the first phase until 1 September to accommodate high demand.

70 Per Cent Metal Frame: Bed-Slinger Architecture Designed with CNC Principles

The defining feature that sets the Quadro apart from other multi-colour 3D printers is its ability to offer four independent toolheads in a bed-slinger architecture. To support this approach, Co Print has constructed approximately 70 per cent of the printer from aluminium and metal components. The motion systems have been designed with the rigidity principles observed in CNC machines.

The Y-axis main load-bearing component has been manufactured from a single-piece aluminium extrusion with high flatness precision. The bed carrier, which on most 3D printers is produced from laser-cut and folded sheet metal, has been manufactured on the Quadro from a single-piece 4mm-thick aluminium extrusion. This approach eliminates geometric deviations arising from bending tolerances, achieving a flat, durable and repeatable support structure. The Y-axis is driven by two independent stepper motors with 48mm body length, each with its own belt, pulley and automatic tensioning mechanism.

How Do Four Toolheads Operate on a Single Axis?

The most intriguing technical detail of the Quadro is how four independent toolheads can move independently on a single X-axis. The secret lies in four separate belt systems integrated within the X-axis profile. Each toolhead has its own independent belt and stepper motor. The motors and tensioning mechanisms are symmetrically positioned, with the motors for toolheads one and two on the left side, and those for toolheads three and four on the right side. This layout contributes to balanced weight distribution on the X and Z axes.

The toolheads cannot pass over one another. Instead, parking areas called Qdock Stations are located on both sides of the X-axis. Each Qdock Station can accommodate up to three toolheads simultaneously. Inactive toolheads are retracted to these parking areas, allowing the active toolhead to access the full 300 x 300mm build area.

Toolhead Changes in 3 Seconds: 90 Per Cent Less Waste

The Quadro's multi-colour printing approach eliminates the massive filament waste generated by single-nozzle systems during colour changes. In single-nozzle systems, each colour change requires the current filament to be cut, retracted, and the nozzle purged. This process results in significant material loss through purge towers and so-called "poop" waste piles.

With the Quadro, each colour has its own toolhead and nozzle, eliminating the need for purging during colour changes. Toolhead changes are completed in approximately 3 seconds. The system can technically operate without any purge tower, using only a small calibration tower for pressure equalisation. The purpose of this tower is not colour purging but to stabilise extrusion pressure in toolheads that have been idle for extended periods. According to Co Print's data, filament waste is reduced by approximately 90 per cent, while multi-colour printing time is reduced by up to 70 per cent.

Performance Data and Material Support

The Quadro can achieve movement speeds of 600 mm/s and accelerations of 10,000 mm/s². Each of the four independent toolheads is equipped with a hotend capable of reaching 300°C and delivering a flow rate of 24 mm³/s. In addition to PLA, PETG and certain TPU types, carbon fibre-reinforced variants can also be printed. With the addition of an enclosure, engineering materials requiring controlled environments, such as ABS, can also be used.

The four filament stations on the board are positioned behind the Qdock parking areas for space efficiency. With all four spools loaded, the device's desktop footprint is stated as 780 x 620 x 515 mm. The filament loading process has also been simplified; once the spool is placed on the station, the toolhead is selected from the interface and the filament is automatically gripped and loaded. When loading is successful, the status LED on the toolhead lights up in the colour of the loaded filament, providing visual confirmation.

Community-Driven Development

Co Print has been focused on bringing multi-colour and multi-material printing capabilities to 3D printers since 2022. The question of "how to make multi-colour printing more efficient" has remained central across all products developed since the first Multi-Filament Module. The Quadro represents the embodiment of this experience in a printer designed from the ground up for the first time.

The project, which exceeded 550 followers within the first 24 hours of its Kickstarter Upcoming page going live, has already earned Kickstarter's "Project We Love" badge before the campaign has even begun. Backers who purchase within the first 48 hours of the campaign will be offered exclusive gifts and the chance to win additional Quadro units.
