HAVELSAN has achieved a world first with its unmanned autonomous ground vehicle, BARKAN. BARKAN successfully carried out a trajectory munition launch belonging to Gürbağ Savunma, which is used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and kamikaze UAV purposes.
BARKAN is equipped with a hydrogen-powered dual-launcher system capable of simultaneously firing laser-guided missiles and lurching munitions from a single turret. Capable of operating within a 15-kilometer radius, this Kamikaze UAV, with its electric propulsion system, 3,000-meter flight altitude, and 40-minute endurance, can be used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and kamikaze missions. With this launch, the BARKAN UGV gained the capability to simultaneously fire mini laser-guided missiles from one launcher and lurching munitions from the other, all from a single turret using its hydrogen-powered dual-launcher system.
What are BARKAN's other characteristics?
BARKAN stands out as a platform that allows for the rapid integration of different payloads thanks to its modular structure. These payloads include a 12.7 mm gun system, a 40 mm grenade launcher, the METE missile, and various other types of missiles. Thanks to its superior autonomy and swarm infrastructure, BARKAN can conduct joint operations with other land and air vehicles from a single center. BARKAN possesses advanced capabilities in GPS-independent movement, return to base in the event of complete communication loss, and fulfilling its assigned mission. BARKAN has been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces and has undergone field testing.
