The development process of Türkiye's first humanoid robot, AKINCI-5, has entered a new phase. According to a post from AKINROBOTICS' social media account, the company is continuing movement imitation-based dance and movement work on AKINCI-5. In this work, body movements are observed, imitated and associated with rhythm to develop a movement repertoire.

What Is Movement Imitation?

Movement imitation is an approach that enables humanoid robots to learn and repeat human movements. In this method, the robot first learns the movement, then attempts to perform the same movement using its joint and motor control systems. In AKINROBOTICS' work, this process is taken a step further by associating movements with rhythm. Movements synchronised with rhythm contribute to the robot developing a more fluid and coordinated movement repertoire.

Such work aims to facilitate the interaction of humanoid robots with humans in daily life. Movement imitation capability is regarded as one of the fundamental abilities that could pave the way for the use of robots in the education, entertainment, healthcare and service sectors.

AKINCI-5's Development Process

AKINCI-5 had been introduced in recent months as the first humanoid robot to emerge from Türkiye's first humanoid robot factory. In the first video shared, the robot's walking speed and fluid movement style drew attention. The movement imitation and rhythm work the company is currently engaged in aims to take the platform's movement capability beyond walking.

AKINROBOTICS is a private-sector venture established with the equity capital of AKINSOFT. With its 11,000-square-metre robotics application area and 3,800-square-metre indoor workspace, the company positions itself as "the world's first humanoid robot factory." The entire process, from the design of the robots to their production, is carried out in-house.
