Bozankaya Exports Trams to Romania

Bozankaya A.Ş., Türkiye's first exporter of rail system vehicles, announced it will sell 17 more trams to the city of Timișoara in Romania.

In 2019, as a result of its collaboration with the Municipality of Timișoara, Bozankaya will add 17 more trams to its existing fleet of 23 trams. These trams will be the world's first catenary-free trams.

Bozankaya announced on his Twitter account: “NEW CONTRACT FOR OUR WORLD RECORD-BREAKING TRAM. We have signed a contract to sell 17 more trams to the city of Timișoara in Romania. As a result of the cooperation with the Municipality of Timișoara, which was first established in 2019, we have added 17 more trams to the 23 trams currently in service. ##ram #1TP7Romania”.

Bozankaya will generate €80 million in foreign currency for Türkiye with these projects. With the exercise of the additional 24-unit option included in the contract, total exports will exceed €113 million. Expanding its international presence by entering a new market, Bozankaya stands out as a manufacturer of innovative and environmentally friendly transportation systems. Previously, Bozankaya, in a consortium with Siemens Mobility, won a metro tender in Bangkok and achieved Türkiye's first export of rail system vehicles.

Bozankaya's tram exports to Romania received extensive coverage in both Turkish and Romanian media. Furthermore, Bozankaya's trams have been well-received by the public in the Romanian cities of Timișoara and Iași. Bozankaya continues to play a pioneering role in Türkiye's rail system vehicle sector.
