The Croatian government has approved the procurement of Bayraktar TB2 armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) manufactured by Baykar Defense, submitted to the Ministry of Defence.
According to Croatian media, the total cost of the agreement is estimated at €84.7 million, to be paid in three installments. The package includes not only six Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, but also ground control stations, training simulators, starter kits of spare parts, and two years of technical support and training services.
Croatia plans to integrate FPV drones into the Bayraktar TB2s it purchased from Türkiye.
This collaboration is believed to be not limited to procurement, but also includes plans for deeper technological integration. Working jointly with the Croatian-based ORQA company, Bayraktar TB2s are being equipped with the capacity to carry and drop FPV (First Person View) drones to target areas. This innovative approach will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the UAVs. FPV drones can be directly controlled by operators and used for surprise attacks or precision targeting missions. This system will provide Croatia with a more flexible combat capability in border security, reconnaissance, and especially in combating asymmetric threats.
Baykar Defense has sold Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles to many countries, and with this agreement, it has delivered its products to yet another NATO and EU member state. The Bayraktar TB2 stands out with its long flight endurance, high maneuverability, and the ability to be equipped with precision-guided munitions.
This sale once again demonstrates the increasing influence and technological capabilities of the Turkish defense industry on the international stage. With this agreement, Croatia aims to conduct border security, fire surveillance, and various security operations more effectively.
