The first shipment of Türkiye's first domestically produced National Infantry Rifle, manufactured at the Kırıkkale Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) Weapons Factory, has been made.
Mehmet Topluoğlu, Production Section Manager of the Arms Factory, stated that the National Infantry Rifle, an original and domestically produced weapon, has been manufactured. Topluoğlu added that 200 National Infantry Rifles will be sent to the Ankara Yenikent 11th Main Supply and Maintenance Center Command, and noted the following:
“It will be distributed to 18 units there and used accordingly, and feedback will be received. It was a great project. It was presented to the military command this week. The chiefs of staff and force commanders were told that the infantry rifle project, which exceeded their expectations, has reached the mass production stage. This also made us very proud. The project started in March 2009, and now the design, verification, production, and quality stages of the project are completely finished, and the project file is closed. A mass production contract will be signed. There are also countries waiting from abroad. It is a weapon with features far superior to its counterparts. The first order and production were, of course, made for our Armed Forces.”
