Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that 100 freight wagons produced in Sivas have been exported to Tanzania. Minister Uraloğlu drew attention to the fact that this shipment is the second railway vehicle export to Tanzania within a single year. The first domestically produced diesel-electric shunting locomotive, DE 10000, manufactured by TÜRASAŞ, had also been exported to Tanzania in July.

In a post from his social media account, Uraloğlu stated: "By exporting to Tanzania the 100 freight wagons we have produced in Sivas with domestic and national capabilities, we are carrying Türkiye's strength in the railway industry to international markets." Emphasising that domestic production capacity has grown with the export, Uraloğlu noted that a new link has been added to Türkiye's export successes.

First the Locomotive, Then the Wagon Export

Türkiye's freight wagon export to Africa came after the locomotive export. The DE 10000 shunting locomotive, produced by TÜRASAŞ with a domestic content rate of 90 per cent, had been sent off to Tanzania by ship from Kocaeli Derince Port on Wednesday 29 July. After a voyage of approximately 3,946 nautical miles (7,308 kilometres), the locomotive reached the Port of Dar es Salaam and joined Tanzania's railway fleet.

The DE 10000 locomotive sent to Tanzania used the Özgün Engine, the first domestic and national diesel engine with over 1,000 horsepower, developed under the TÜBİTAK KAMAG Project through cooperation between TÜRASAŞ and TÜBİTAK. Uraloğlu had announced that the engine, with all intellectual property rights belonging to Türkiye, was used for the first time on a domestic locomotive platform and exported to international markets.

TÜRASAŞ Had Broken a Record with 801 Wagons Produced in 2025

In 2025, TÜRASAŞ had set a record by completing the production of a total of 801 wagons of different types. TÜRASAŞ had also achieved significant success in the production of wagons enabling the transport of military vehicles in the Land Forces Command inventory under all weather conditions, within the scope of the UAİS Special Type Military Transport Wagon project. In the Military Tank Transport Wagon project, which moved to serial production, two years of production was completed in one year, with 100 units delivered in 2025.
