The 2D map of Türkiye created by RASAT, our first domestically produced observation satellite, which was launched into space on August 17, 2011, will be made available online this year.

The RASAT satellite, designed and manufactured domestically by the TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY), captured images of a total area of 3,856,000 square kilometers on Earth during its mission. This area is approximately five times the surface area of Turkey, which is 783,000 square kilometers. RASAT, capable of taking photographs with a resolution of 7.5 meters, transmits these images to TÜBİTAK UZAY's ground station in Ankara. A two-dimensional satellite image database of Türkiye has been created using the images captured by the national satellite. To ensure its up-to-date status, the database is enriched daily with newly acquired images.
