The foundation of the domestic car factory, which will produce Türkiye's own car and is expected to provide employment for 4,500 people, was laid today in a ceremony attended by high-ranking state officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, TOGG CEO Mehmet Gürcan Karakaş stated that the domestically produced car factory, whose foundation was laid, would not only be a car manufacturing plant but also a technology production center for Turkey. Announcing the good news that the batteries for the domestically produced car would be localized, Karakaş also shared information that the factory would be environmentally friendly and smart, producing 170,000 vehicles annually without harming the environment.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that the project to produce Türkiye's own car is not just a car manufacturing project, but a technology production project, and then shared the information that the cameras of the domestic car will also be produced by a domestic company.
Speaking at the end of the groundbreaking ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that despite all the obstruction and smear campaigns, which are frequently seen in Türkiye's industrialization history, the Turkish Automobile Project is progressing at full speed and that the foundation being laid today is the best answer to this.
The first vehicle from the domestic car factory is expected to roll off the production line at the end of 2022.
