Arçelik has established two new centers to produce the products of the future with today's innovative ideas. The company has launched Garage, Workshop 4.0, and Tech Pro Academy in Çayırova, Istanbul.
Oğuzhan Öztürk, Deputy General Manager of Production and Technology at Arçelik, stated that the changes in the next 50 years will be greater than those experienced in the last 400 years. Öztürk noted that Arçelik is making significant investments to be fully prepared for the opportunities offered by the market and the digital world.
Öztürk explained that they launched Garage and Workshop 4.0 within this framework, saying, "Why aren't there Apples coming out of our country? Why doesn't our country have many well-known brands in the world? I have personally taken this to heart.".
"I realized that we are apartment kids. None of us grew up in a garage. Actually, a garage means a workspace where no one interferes with you, and you can work as much as you want, by yourself or with your friends. Since we grew up in an environment without garages, we created Garage so that young people can grow up in an environment with garages," he said.
Öztürk stated that idea development and prototyping workshops are regularly held at Garage, adding, "At Garage, we aim to evaluate 20,000 ideas and produce 200 prototypes in a year.".
